Paint a portrait of the old quarter in Yemen's capital, Sana'a, for a never-leaved-the-USA person like me :) Thank you.(give a different answer) .
Locals claim it's the oldest city on the face of earth, founded by a son of Noah. The houses are indeed unique: made out of mud-brick, with coloured windows and gingerbread facades, following a 1000 year-old high-rise style. They are also covered in a white strata of gypsum like a wedding-cake, with blue doors, and some of the windows carved in alabaster. Streets are curled and narrow, adorned with 40 souks selling spices, myrrh, together with roasted locusts. Yami :)
